Again regretfully late in posting with regards to next Spring's trends, however with deadlines thankfully met and the blissful thrill of not having any work to contend with over the Christmas holidays, I cam finally concentrate on being up-to-date. A multitude of ice-cream palettes were inflicted across catwalks for 2012, seen from Louis Vuitton (and my rather naive watercolour) trough to Versus and Prada. Versus' stimulus was a very all-American cheerleading schoolgirl, with models gliding the runways in pleats aplenty. Chanel saw the polar opposite, with audiences being transported to the decadent era of the 1920s. Muted tones of mint green and peach, as well as the use of iridescent fabrics gave Lagerfeld's designs an aquatic, almost anthropomorphic quality, bringing to mind McQueen's unforgettable 'Pluto's Atlantis' of 2010. The aforementioned era was also reflected in Meadham Kirchhoff's collection, featuring rhinestone encrusted briefs and silk salmon tinted slips, whilst models paraded with what seemed to be white clouds atop their heads. Prada offered yet another decade to dwell upon, in the form of a particularly cinematic representation of the 1950s. Muiccia's varsity jackets echoed the innocence of a David Lynch heroine, whilst her pleats emulated a coquette Marilyn circa the Seven Year Itch.
